Entertainment
Production & Promotion

Van Ness Group is partners in gimmeLIVE, a new venture producing top quality entertainment north of Boston, including sold-out concerts at Beverly's fully restored, historic Larcom Theatre. Click here for more information on past shows.

Van Ness Group designs and produces custom, branded events (such as concerts, festivals, shows, grand openings) to promote your business or support your favorite charity -- or both. And we will craft a highly cost-effective marketing and PR campaign using the Web, social media, sponsorship, media trades and more to promote your event. See examples below. Contact us now to see what we can do for you.

In September 2010, we produced the second Celebrate Gloucester featuring Grammy-Award winner Charles Neville, national recording artist Roomful of Blues and some of Gloucester's best local musicians in an 8-hour festival on Gloucester Harbor that raised $15,000 for local charities.

Reviews were spectacular, the charities were grateful and a splendid time was had by all. See more Celebrate Gloucester videos here.

gimmesound.com In April 2009 we launched gimmesound.com, the New Music Pipeline supporting thousands of independent musicians. Check out the free, legal music downloads and online advertising opportunities.

Downtown Gloucester Block Parties In 2008, we co-produced music and helped organize Downtown Gloucester's first ever, wildly successful Block Parties in August and October. (See newspaper stories here and here). They were so successful, we produced more block parties in 2009, bringing thousands of people to downtown Gloucester each time. See editorial here.

Henri Smith In September, 2008, we produced Rhythms & Flavours Summer Extravaganza featuring Henri Smith New Orleans Friends & Flavours with Nat Simpkins.
Special Guests Allen Estes Trio, The Runaround and Brazilian DJ Adriano. The crowds and the reviews were spectacular.

And we co-produced Henri Smith with Grammy Award winning saxophonist Charles Neville of The Neville Brothers in October, 2008 at Blackburn Performing Arts.

Fly Amero We launched a new Web site for national recording artist Fly Amero just in time for Orleans' Fall 2008 European Tour.

Fly's new site offers stunning photos by his wife, Donna, along with full discography, biography, mailing list, touring info, CD sales and downloads, photos and video.

Concert from the Heart August 11, 2007 - Gloucester, MA In the summer of 2007, Massachusetts State Senator Bruce Tarr asked Van Ness Group to produce and promote the Concert from the Heart benefit with major Boston area talent, including American Idol finalist Ayla Brown, national recording stars Fly Amero of Orleans, singer/songwriter Allen Estes and multi-platinum guitarist David Brown (see video Not With Ya Hands, below).

Not With Ya Hands - music by Allen Estes, words by Frank Tedesco|
Allen Estes & Fly Amero - guitar and vocals | Dave Brown - guitar
Wolf Ginandes - bass | Seth Pappas - drums
Van Ness Group produced all music & entertainment, developed and executed a highly successful marketing and PR plan, designed the logo, built the Web site and provided Web-based ticketing services. Concert from the Heart raised over $30,000.00 for the fund.
Waterfront Music and Arts Festival on Gloucester Harbor
Van Ness Group produced the highly acclaimed waterfront music and arts festival Celebrate Gloucester, which raised money for the Society for the Encouragement of the Arts and Schooner Adventure - a national historic landmark.

The festival reunited the Pousette-Dart Band and brought together dozens of musicians, artists, authors, historians, fishermen and maritime activities for a dockside festival celebrating Gloucester's arts and maritime culture and the grand opening of Gloucester’s first cruise ship terminal on Memorial Day Weekend 2007.

The Souls of the Sea World Premiere Musical Working with Motor Management, Van Ness Group promoted the world premiere of The Souls of the Sea musical play by Frank Tedesco.

In addition to building a special Web site for the World Premiere, Van Ness Group provided Web-based ticketing services (far better value than TicketMaster) along with sponsorship, PR and marketing.

The World Premiere in Gloucester, MA was extremely well received and attended. See Gloucester Daily Times Review.

CapeAnnVacations.com
Premier Travel Web Site

We completely overhauled the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce's tourism site, combining breathtaking visuals and powerful search, sort and select features with a highly intuitive design to produce one of the Web's premier travel sites.

Launched in June 2005, the new Web site and accompanying Web application replaced several legacy systems previously maintained on in-house servers. Today, using one intuitive Web-based interface, Chamber staff have total, instantaneous control over visuals, content and membership information, thereby dramatically reducing errors, overhead and technology costs.

Interactive Business Theatre In order to coordinate this Web launch with a profile of DramaWorks on CBS affiliate, WBZ-TV4 in Boston, we had to build their highly interactive site in only 6 weeks.

Flash movies, video and database driven content create a visually striking site that features one of the first Interactive Stories ever produced for the Web.

MMI PromotionWe created this high-impact promotion for a new music business venture during the last innocent days of Summer 2001. This venture died after a meeting with NYC-based investors scheduled for 9/12/2001 was cancelled for obvious reasons. But the demo is still cool. Turn up your speakers and check it out.

Thanks for starting something rare and wonderful here in Gloucester

... a very special night. You won’t hear anything like this for a very long time.

I enjoyed the [Celebrate Gloucester] events thoroughly. They were well-conceived, featured tremendous content, and potently symbolized the spirits of entrepreneurship, investment and optimism that our community desperately needs.

Great job promoting The Souls of the Sea World Premiere. We could not have produced the play without you!
